The film Paris, je t'aime is currently in production and is coming along nicely according to sources at Novem Productions. It is a feature film gathering 20 international filmmakers shot in the 20 districts of Paris. Each director has 5 minutes to tell a love story in one of the districts in present day Paris. The 20 tales will be woven together into a seamless two hour feature length film.
Fanny Ardant is the director for the 16th arrondissement. Some of the other directors involved are Woody Allen, Johnny Depp, Jean-Luc Godard, Tim Roth, Agnes Varda, Alejandro Gonzales Inarritu and Sally Potter. The actors involved in acting capacities are Tom Cruise, Penélope Cruz, Natalie Portman, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Fiona Shaw, Patrick Timsit, Michel Piccoli, Charlotte Rampling and Gael Garcia Bernal, among others.
No official release date has been set yet, but it will most likely be not before the end of 2004. For more information, visit the

At a press conference held during The Toronto International Film Festival before the world premiere of Nathalie..., director Anne Fontaine shared a metaphor she heard in which Fanny Ardant's voice was described as a cello and Emmanuelle Béart's as a violin...illustrating the importance of the chemistry between the two actresses because a deep relationship develops between their characters in the film. Fanny Ardant is in Spain filming the new movie El año del diluvio for Spanish director Jaime Chavarri, based on the book by Eduardo Mendoza. She plays the role of a nun and performs in Spanish!

Fanny Ardant met with Russian president Vladimir Putin at his country residence outside Moscow during the Moscow International Film Festival. She was also awarded the Stanislavski prize for lifelong achievement during the festival, named after Russian theater director and theorist Konstantim Stanislavski.
