FELINE WEEK…Thursday: FELINE @ FAB!

The coolest club in Belfast…

• Feline Week surged relentlessly forward, as we paid a visit to One of Belfast's most original and cool wee clubs to hang out in [so said BBC Radio One], the city's coolest alternative club night [The Guardian], indeed This cult club is the only truly hip, bohemian night in Belfast [Ministry Magazine].
• Fab! mogul Andrea McVeigh wrote in that week's Guardian Guide:

  When fab! was first dreamed up after a trip to London's Smashing and Popstarz in 1996, no one thought that the fortnightly Belfast night would still be demanding attention in Y2K. By blasting definitions of indie music to pieces, it's the only place in Northern Ureland to hear Pizzicato Five mixed with the Velvet Underground, or Belle & Sebastian followed by Blondie. And it works, in a kitsch, booze-fuelled, fabish way, especially for the fans, who argue over favourite tracks, arrange parties and compete in "fabster of the year" contests on its website. Taking a first step with live music, this Thursday sees Belfast's Kraftwerk-alike duo The Feline Dream take to the stage before DJ Pat gets wicked with the way-out tunes.

• This gig was tremendous fun, despite the fact that by now Nick had fallen foul of a nasty can of fluorescent orange spraypaint and viral meanies, and had almost totally lost his singing voice! :-O David ended up singing a few of his numbers instead.
• The set-list saw a return of the Obligatory Cover Version™: as a special treat for all the FAB!sters, we did a version of that FAB!-playlist stalwart, Europe is Our Playground by Suede.
• Much hilarity was to be had when one of the mahogany chested bouncers tried to throw David out of the venue because he and Fab!ster of the Year, Ms Barbaroola, attempted to take a Feline @ FAB! poster down off the wall, to keep as a souvenir.
• The Feline Dream also did a DJ set before their live set. Track listings was sthg like...
