About

I created this site for two reason; firstly, because I was fed up with getting offers for football fixed odds systems that cost money. The claims were ridiculous; the question that was never answered, or if it was answered, was answered unsatisfactorily, was why, if these people have such good systems, and are making so much money, do these people have to sell their secrets? It seems obvious, but they still seemed to avoid the question. The only time that it was answered was with the pathetic and unbelievable claim that they're doing it because they've got so much money that they now want to help other people. Of course. (This is a reason that I share with www.bookiebusters.com - make sure that you check them out.)

Secondly, I needed a reference point for all the information that I had accumulated. This site in various forms has sat on my hard drive for months, with no intention on my part of ever putting it up.

Therefore I have built this site, taking all the bits of information that I have found over my travels through libraries, magazines, and the Internet, and stuck it on here. I don't offer predictions on the site - although I do on my free newsletter - as there are already plenty of places to get them. What I do have is lots of systems, and I hope that you use them. If you like them, e-mail me and let me know. I'll stick a poll up for people's favourites eventually. If you have any others, e-mail me and let me know. I hope for this site to become a forum for football fixed odds systems, as there is no site that I can find that offers such a comprehensive round up.

As for why I chose to actually build a site, it has recently become a bit of a hobby for me - I created this one, for example, for the Durham University Judo Club (http://members.tripod.co.uk/durhamjudo/) - and it seemed like an excellent opportunity to test DHTML and other features that I can't on my DUJC site. The main work was done with Netscape Composer and Microsoft FrontPage - although I know some HTML, it really is quite difficult to learn, and these days there are so many HTML editors around that it is much better, in my opinion, to learn how to use one really well rather than to learn HTML. Having said that, there is a recent HTML editor that I have come across that seems pretty awesome, so now I tend to get the basics with Composer, and then do additions with 1st Page 2000 from www.evrsoft.com. I'd probably use Dreamweaver if I could afford it. There are few sites that I like to use for building, such as www.webmaster-resources.com (the newsletter archive is very useful) and www.dynamicdrive.com (some very good DHTML resources there).

This site uses tables rather than frames. This was an influence from www.webmaster-resources.com more than anything else. Most people's browsers are now frames-compatible, so it wasn't really a concern. The cosmetic argument swung it. Furthermore, it is only through my experimenting with this site that I have realised how easy tables are to manipulate! However, until I am fully competent in Cascading Style Sheets if I want to change the set up on one page I'm going to have to go through all of them doing it. Which is boring but not impossible. I've hesitated to use too much Javascript on the site, as it slows it down, and I do love DHTML but it is not very browser compatible at the moment, so there's not much on here. Sites that use far too much fancy stuff just look silly. As this is only a site as a personal hobby, and it's on free space, I don't have access to CGI; thus I don't do my own programming for things that need CGI, and this is why I have used www.listbot.com for the newsletter. I get the poll from www.freepolls.com, and the forum from www.ezboard.com (I already administer two other forums, both from Ezboard - one on my DUJC site, and one for old school friends - I came across Ezboard at www.SFUK.net).

You'll notice that I don't use much in the way of graphics on this site. I'm toying with idea of eventually adding a watermark to the main table cell, but until I can find one that is just right I won't bother. Too many sites overuse graphics and everything gets slowed down.

As for me, I am 20 and I attend (as if you hadn't guessed) Durham University. I am currently (March 2000) half-way through my BA in Politics, and apart from the odd flutter on football I love playing sports (martial arts (judo especially, but also vale tudo and shootfighting), rugby, and weight lifting mainly) and reading everything from classics to current affairs. I also do some door work.

If you've got any comments at all about the site, please feel free to e-mail me. By the way, I use a Hotmail address so that I can access the mail when I am at university and at home. I otherwise don't like it for websites - I think that it's very unprofessional.

Plans for the future
I plan to have a chat room, with scheduled chat times and topics - should be good fun. I am still dabbling with the site layout, but I do quite like it at the moment. Hopefully the
newsletter will become quite popular, as well as the site, and people can start contributing to it.
