Brian Gulliver & The Travellers on ATV Televisions “ For Teenagers Only” They appeared on the very first shows that went out live on Monday nights at 6-30 and was produced by Reg Watson of “Crossroads” and “ Neighbours “ fame, it was Reg.s idea that gave the band it's name. In the pic is Johnny Bedder on lead guitar, Neil Norman on drums, Tony Dangerfield on bass guitar, and Brian Gulliver on lead vocals, Johnny and Neil were from Hinckley in Leicestershire, and Tony and Brian were from Walsall. Tony and Johnny went on to join Screaming Lord Sutch and the Savages and stayed with him for quite some time ,Tony then got a record deal with Joe Meek and became Tony Dangerfield and the Thrills, the record was:”I.ve seen such things”/ “She.s too way out” on the Pye label which I believe is quite a collectable record today. Johnny played guitar on both records. Incidentally Reg Watson based two characters in “Crossroads” on Janice and myself they were Brian and Janice Harvey.

After leaving the Travellers he joined Screaming Lord Sutch ,then sessioned for Joe Meek for about a year, then toured with Tony Dangerfield & The Thrills after which he joined the Winstone G Set after that he joined Jimmy James and the Vagabonds. Then John formed his own band "ARIES" which became quite big in Hamburg and played the STAR CLUB for six months, during their time in Germany they backed Freddie Fingers  at the Berlin pop festival, and played the 99Club Bremen with Status Quo,In 1990 John met up with Sutch again and played with him on several occasions until Lord Sutch's death'. One of the highlights of John's career was in 2001 when he met his hero Big Jim Sullivan and had the pleasure of being asked to jam with him.

IT IS WITH GREAT SADNESS THAT WE HAVE LEARNED OF THE DEATH OF JOHN BEDDER. JOHN PASSED AWAY ON THE MORNING OF 26th OF DECEMBER 2003 AFTER A LONG BATTLE AGAINST CANCER, JOHN WAS GUITARIST WITH THE TRAVELERS IN THE SIXTIES, HE WAS A GREAT GUITAR PLAYER AND AN ALL ROUND GOOD GUY WHO WAS A FRIEND OF BOTH OF US. HE WILL BE SADLY MISSED.
