CANAL DU NIVERNAIS

The Canal du Nivernais stretches from Auxerre to Decize in central France. Famous for wines like Chablis and Sancerre, the region is also known for its remarkable cliffs at Saussois and the Morvan forest. Swimming opportunities abound since the canal often follows the Yonne river as it snakes north to Paris. Our favorite spot to tie up is alongside the old stone dike and reservoir at the summit at Baye. From here, the moonrises and sunsets are unforgettable.
