Tilapia recipes ~ Asian Tilapia Fillets

Ingredients :

  • 1 medium carrot, cut into 4" sticks
  • 4 scallions, cut into 3" sections
  • 8 x 1" pieces fresh ginger, cut into 1/8" slices
  • 1 tspn allspice powder, whole
  • 3 star anise, broken up
  • ½ tspn whole black peppercorns
  • 2 dried red chilies, seeded
  • 2 tspn peanut or vegetable oil
  • 3 lb tilapia fillets, rinsed and patted dry
  • 3 tbs. white wine
  • ½ cup fish stock or chicken stock
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter


Preparation and Cooking Instructions :

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. Combine first 7 ingredients in a bowl and spread in the bottom of a well oiled baking dish.
  3. Arrange fish over vegetables and season with salt to taste. Add wine and 3 tbsp stock.
  4. Bake 25-30 minutes until fish flakes easily with a fork.
  5. Set fish aside and keep warm.
  6. Strain contents of baking dish into a saucepan. Discard spices and vegetables.
  7. Add remaining stock. Bring to a boil over high heat and reduce by a third.
  8. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Swirl in butter.
  9. Serve sauce over fish.
