Venison recipes ~ Spicy venison meatballs

Ingredients :

  • 1½ lb ground venison
  • 1 medium onion, finely diced
  • ½ cup parsley, chopped
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tspn each of ground pepper, 5 spice powder, and oregano
  • 3 cloves garlic, crushed
  • ¼ tspn cayenne pepper
  • flour to dust
    for sauce :
  • 3 cups chunky spaghetti sauce, ready made
  • 1 tbsp hot chili sauce, to taste
  • 3 tbsp Chinese plum sauce
  • ½ cup water

Preparation and Cooking Instructions

  1. To make meatballs, combine all ingredients in a large mixing bowl and mix well. Use wet hands to shape mixture into balls the size of a large walnut. Dust in flour and brown in batches in a little oil. Transfer to casserole dish.
  2. Combine sauce ingredients and pour over meatballs.
  3. Cover and bake at 350ºF for 30 minutes or microwave covered at 80% power for 8-10 minutes, turning twice.
