Who
We Are
|
The Frontline Association
is a group of World War 2 re-enactors based mainly in the Yorkshire area,
but with members from as far afield as London and Aberdeen. We attend
events throughout the north, Midlands and occasionally venturing into the
south. The group has been in existence in its present form since 1999.
We
have traditionally
portrayed German forces: our main unit being the Hauptquartier 2nd Battalion
Fallschirmjäger
Regiment 9 (3FJD). This was in addition to portraying homefront
civilians, civilian police, Home Guard and ARP. However, in 2003 we decided to add
two British units: the 51st Highland Division including the 7th Battalion Blackwatch;
and support troops from the Middlesex Regiment (specialising in heavy
machine guns, anti-tank weapons and mortars).
|
|
We
attend public shows and private battle events, either on our own or with
other groups. In November 2003 we joined the umbrella organisation
"The World War II Experience", through which we can offer a
larger package of spectacular historic recreations including battles,
weapons and uniform displays, and 1940's fashion show. Being part of
this larger organisation also offers our members a wider choice when it
comes to deciding what to re-enact as.
