The Probate Office

If there is an estate to be settled and you wish to do this yourself, the forms can be obtained from:

The Probate Personal Application Department

Principal Registry of the Family Division

2nd Floor Somerset House

Strand

London

WC2R 1LP

You may also apply to a Local District Probate Registry or Sub-Registry - addresses obtainable via  Yellow Pages or your local telephone service. Don't even think of just turning up at these places without first calling for an appointment!

You may find the staff at these places a little "sniffy". It's nothing personal, it's just the way they treat everybody.
