Breed Profile

Coat Length: Shorthair or longhair

Temperament: Intelligent, active, talkative, affectionate

Coat: Minimal shedding
Shorthair - soft silky fur with no noticeable undercoat
Longhair - soft silky medium to long coat that lies flat against the body

Colours: Black and white, red and white, tortoiseshell, black, red, Mi-ke (black, red and white) - Japanese symbol of good luck

Head: Triangular head with high cheekbones, long nose, well developed muzzle, large oval eyes set wide apart, upright ears rounded at the tips

Body: Medium sized slender body, long slender legs, hindlimbs longer than the forelimbs, medium sized oval paws, short curled tail is only four to five inches in length giving a fluffy bobbed look

Grooming: Daily brushing or combing

Common Faults: Round head, heavy muscling, tail too long or too straight
