Typical Trossachs Flies
A typical cast would consist of a bushy bob fly such as a Clan Chief,
Claret or Olive Bumble, Marbled Sedge, Gartmore Palmer, 
Loch Ordie or a Blue Zulu. The
following can be deadly on the middle dropper or tail: Soldier Palmer, Kate Mclaren,
Bibio, Brora Ranger, Bloody Butcher, Rough Olive, Kingfisher Butcher, Dunkeld or Connemara
Black, Professor, Wickhams and Watsons Fancy. Dry fly patterns, hoppers and buzzer’s
can also work well at times.
Size of fly ranges between 10’s to 16’s, using 12’s in a steady breeze and 10’s in moderate to strong winds. During the peak of the season great sport can be had during moderate too strong winds ‘dibbling’ the bob fly in the wave troughs!
