| Saturday 6 November 2004 Caledonian Premier League Glasgow Harp AFC 1-v-2 Netherton AFC Harp lost another 3 league points at home in a disappointing display. The team was again disrupted with several changes, but this did not determine the outcome of the game. Harp started brightly and nearly opened the scoring with a header from Peter Johnstone. He did however break the deadlock on the half hour mark. A slack ball across the back from a Netherton defender was headed on by Steven McGill. The ball landed at the feet of Peter who smashed the ball over the keeper from 18 yards. Harp held on until half time, but only after 2 excellent saves by McGovern. The second half was only 5 minutes old when Netherton equalised. Again, slack defending by Harp, a lose ball out of defence was seized upon by the Netherton midfield and Harp were punished with a simple tap in for the Netherton forward. Only a minute later it happened again, Harp finding themselves 2 v 1 down in two poor minutes. The rest of the half Harp did not create any clear chances and Netherton finished the stronger side and could have increased their lead when McGovern slipped only for the Netherton player to knock the ball into the side netting. This was a poor showing from Harp after the last few league games, the standard was not quite good enough against a strong but not unbeatable side. Harp have now only taken 1 point from 3 home league games this season. Harp now have several weeks before their next league game due to the national cups, this will hopefully see them restored to full strength and playing at their best again. Harp next week travel to Kirkcaldy to face Kittys AFC in the Scottish Cup then face a home tie in the West Cup against Kilmarnock Town. |
