ENGLAND DEANERY of GLOUCESTER NORTH
The Deanery of Gloucester North,
part of the Diocese of Gloucester, which has as
its centre
the great Cathedral of Gloucester, comprises seven
Benefices
made up between them of nineteen parishes with
twenty churches.
Geographically the Deanery forms an elongated
shape
starting
from Corse and Staunton in the north of the county
and
containing parishes on both sides of the Severn north of Gloucester,
then
incorporating a swathe of villages round the eastern side of Gloucester,
with St
Mary’s at Great Witcombe its most southerly church.
Most of
the area comprises small rural parishes, with
Churchdown and Brockworth more urban with greater
populations and density of housing.
