Jane Adams was born on April 1st 1965 in Washington DC. She was educated at The Juilliard School in New York, earning a degree in drama in 1989. She moved onto films, TV and Broadway. Her acting talents have won her a Tony Award and a Drama Desk Award for Featured Actress for her role in An Inspector Calls on Broadway, and an Outer Critics Circle Award for I Hate Hamlet.

Jane's TV credits include the teenage drama series Relativity, as well as the role of Mel on Frasier. Her films include I Love Trouble, Vital Signs, Mrs. Parker and the Vicious Circle, Mumford, Single White Female and Light Sleeper.

She also appeared in Father of the Bride Part II and dated co-star Steve Martin for a while during filming.
