Larbert and Stenhousemuir have undergone great changes in recent years. Notably, a huge amount of new houses have been built in the twin villages. Further, traffic calming has been introduced at the eastern and western access roads to Larbert and Stenhousemuir.

The 'before and after' pictures perhaps do not ably illustrate the traffic calming introduction, but a drive into the villages would soon allow the visitor to become aware of the innovation. The area shown, Main Street Larbert, by the post office, was seen as a potential accident black spot. Improved street lighting has also been installed.

To the left, another view of the Main Street, showing the location of the Gulnar Tandoori, a large and well regarded local restaurant. And right, an example of the new house build which the area has experienced of late, this being at 'The Inches' to the north Larbert.

Before

After

Once a hub of the Industrial Revolution in Scotland, the area has undergone transition in recent times, as shown by our montage to the left. The upper views are of Foundry Loan, the lower pictures having been taken at Central Park. Jones & Campbell, a long established local foundry, spent a considerable sum a few years ago to overcome some of the problems of air pollution which resulted from their processes. Also shown here, Exabyte and Alexander's, two of the new industrial inhabitants of Central Park to the north of Larbert. Further industrial development is envisaged on green space in the vicinity of Central Park, just off Bellsdyke Road.
