ATLANTIC 252
LONG WAVE

Welcome to the final ATLANTIC 252 page. As always we save the best for last! This is where we take a look at the old days of the most successful none stop commercial music Radio station in UK and Irish history. You may say Europe too... but don't as ATLANTIC was a child of 208khz let alone other CLT stations. But it still had a style that even Luxembourg 208 didn't have let alone the others.
These days stations rely on DAB, satellite and even the internet ( MP3 ) for large coverage. This is fine in many ways but to saturate Europe ( let alone the UK / Ireland ) with the biggest hits in the world on your normal Radio from one giant transmitter site is another.
ATLANTIC 252 proved it could win and strike an original cord in a listeners heart that has yet to be achieved. In addition, a string of super jocks along the way to promote it gave them a distinctive advantage when finding work outside the gaint. It is easy to understand that a jocks career totally changed after ATLANTIC 252. For those of you reading this who worked their... always remember that you were part of something that NOBODY can take from you and so few have done. You are now part of the legend called ATLANTIC 252.
BELOW: Henry Condon ( Henry owens ) The voice of ATLANTIC promos for years apart from being a great jock. The brilliant Henry moved on to become PD for 'Red FM' in Cork City.... Corks No.1.

BELOW: Al Dunne who took over from Henry as PD in the mid 90's. Al went to Dublins lite fm ( now called Q102 ) as PD. But we don't know where he is today?%

ABOVE : Reception

ABOVE:  A rare look at an early add for ATLANTIC 252.

ABOVE: Another classic add from 90's 252.

ABOVE: Charlie Wolf a one off breakfast jock. He worked for Red fm in Co.Cork as their breakfast jock but has moved on to.

ABOVE: The great... 'Dusty' now has his own production company in Ireland. He was one of the most out-standing Irish jocks ever!

BELOW : Sadly, not everyone made ATLANTIC feel welcome. Local people didn't want the 248 metre mast.

BELOW :  Inside the transmitter building in Clarkstown. These are the two giant transmitters local people didn't want to see arrive from America. They were esepcially build by an American company for 252 long wave and then sent to Europe in order to give Europe  "TODAYS BEST MUSIC NON STOP".
