GRIEF SOCIETY - Anglia Polytechnic University - Monday 2 October 2000

Seeing a band like GRIEF SOCIETY in the cosy surroundings of a University makes you realise how exciting live music can be at times.

From the opening strains of 'Blind To The World' to the closing chords of encore 'Worthless', GRIEF SOCIETY were nothing less than entertaining.

The band performed a selection of songs from both their 'How We Used To Live' album and their excellent 'Waterfall' EP. The highlights of the night, however, were the clutch of new songs from their, as yet unreleased, second album.

This is a band at the height of its enjoyment of music and with a truly great selection of songs. Their approach combines rock, funk, and melodic power pop, coming over like a cross between the sadly defunct Honeycrack and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

As the last chords faded out to enthusiastic applause, bassist Angus Nurse smilingly declared 'We'll see you again'.

I certainly hope so!!
