Welcome to
Gateshead Harriers & Athletics Club

Registered Charity Number: 1093956

The Leading Athletics Club in the North East

Gateshead Harriers were founded in 1904 as Gateshead St. Mary's Church Running Club. Originally for men only, ladies joined in 1951. The club moved to it's present site in 1956. Today we cater for all athletes, from 8yrs+ to veterans in all disciplines through winter and summer.
We train at least two evenings a week and compete in road races, cross-country, track & field and marathons.

New members are always welcome and you can train at any level of fitness, from sedate jogs to competition level. Our excellent facilities include comprehensive weights room, male and female changing rooms with showers and a large hall which is also available for training purposes twice a week during the winter months.

Training sessions:
Training is at Gateshead International Studium on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30pm till 8:00pm (unless otherwise arranged with your coach).

We hope you will enjoy your athletics with us and have many years of successful competition. We will endeavour to help your progress and development in your chosen event(s) with the help of qualified club coaches.

A reminder that as per UK Athletics Rule 3 (3) any athlete wishing to compete for another club who can provide a higher level of Track and Field competition during the season ahead must register that intent through their National/Territorial Association. This applies to athletes who wish to register for the first time but also to those who registered for the 2003 season.
If someone would like to register with Gateshead Harriers – i.e someone who is a member of a club that is NOT in the U.K. Leagues, or the Northern League – they can register with us and we will pay the £10 fee. This means that athletes will still be first claim athletes for their club, but will be able to compete in higher leagues with our teams.
Please download this form, print it, complete it and bring it or send it to our office here at the Gateshead Stadium.
For further information, please send Chris Betts an e-mail at:
