01032 Riversdale Garcias Pass east of type
H wimii grows near the Langeberg range in the Little Karoo amongst succulent and mountainous flora. It was previously regarded as H emelyae v major (Bayer). It differs considerably from H emelyae (now picta) and appears to have a closer affinity with H paradoxa. The latter grows some 50km towards the south near a coastal village called Vermaaklikheid. The plants were found in rock crevices, but also lower down on level ground between quartz and pebbles. I include two general habitat photographs, one from the mountainous area and one from the level ground. The two localities are some 200m apart. Some of the plants have broader leaves and look a bit like H breueri which is found a few km further towards the east.
