One hundred and fifty people attended the Ball, with all ages from 20s
to 70 plus represented. Although outside the marquee the weather was
overcast, with occasional light rain, it did nothing to spoil the
enjoyment of those inside.
By 8.00pm most of those attending had arrived and before taking their
places at table, socialised with drinks or took the opportunity to
have their photograph taken in their posh frocks and suits. The buffet
included an extensive array of cold meat, seafood, vegetarian dishes
and a wide choice of salads. This was followed by a selection of
deserts and English and Continental cheese.
The evening continued with dancing to 'Wired' who played music from
the 60's onwards, which proved popular and kept the dance floor packed
most of the time. The only break was for the raffle, which included
prizes ranging from a portable TV to commemorative millennium tumblers.
All too soon midnight arrived and with it the close of a memorable
evening.
Thanks to Heather Emery for providing the photographs and Marie
Stevenson for the video stills.
