Stalingrad
Stalingrad, Russia
,20 October 1942 (For SP1)
At the end of September, small detachments of Rodimtsevs
13th Guards Division were ordered to seize and fortify buildings
around Lenin Square. A damaged apartment complex facing
Solechnaya Street and overlooking the square was attacked
and occupied by Sergeant Jakob Pavlov and his men. With
some meager reinforcements that reached
him Pavlov organized a defensive perimeter. Since it sat
astride one of the primary German lines of advance to the
Volga (only 250 yards away), his strong point came under
frequent attack and bombardment. On 20 October , as part
of the general German push to complete the capture of Stalingrad
, one of the Strongest assault to date was launched at the
apartment Block. By unknown pavlov.zip

"Barricady Factory". This day some units of the
305th I.D. and of the 14th Pz.D.
came near 300 meters of the H.Q. of the 62th Army.
Capture or death of Gal Tchouikov could change the battle
issue and maybe the future. The Gal was defend by elements
of the 307th I.D., the 37th Guard I.D., and his H.Q. Guards.

Stalingrad Oct. 6th, 1942. (SP1)
The epic struggle for the city on the Volga, had many savage
hand-to-hand, battles. One such battle was for the
Dzerherzinsky Tractor Factory. As the Pioneer units from
the 389th Infantry Div. attacked, the newly ferried Russian
37th Guards were moving up to reinforce the fanatical factory
defenders. This scenario was designed with as much historical
input that I had available. The map was painstakingly reproduced
from reference. It should portray the small unit actions
of the battle quite well.

VENGEANCE OF BLOOD, JULY 1943: (SP1)
After 14 days and nights of heavy fighting on the Eastern
front The 11th SS Infantry Division is ready for a major
thrust, so units of the 358th infantry are ordered to advance
and make contact to the east. A German infantry unit is
moving NE to link up with ammunition group but they are
surprised to find Russian troops resting at a nearby old
farmhouse. By Jose Logrono and Me:-x VOB.zip

Belorussia, July 1944.
With Army Group Center shattered and Soviet spearheads rolling
toward Poland, a veteran German battlegroup attempts to
stem the tide, at least temporarily, at an important road
junction. A small force of armor and infantry is rushing
to reinforce the position, but even that may not be enough.
The Soviet command has ordered an all-out attack to smash
this nucleus of resistance before it can slow the pace of
the advance.

South of Smolensk, Russia.
Barbarossa is in full swing. The forward elements of the
Red Army surrounded in Minsk by Hoth's Panzer Gruppe 3 and
Guderian's Panzer Gruppe 2 had surrendered earlier in the
month, and the mobile spearheads of Army Group Centre have
lunged forward again. 29 Motorized Division slipped into
the key city of Smolensk on the
upper Dniepr on 16 July, thus cutting off strong forces
to the north of the Dniepr between Orsha and Smolensk. The
Russian units to the south of the Dniepr began to move northwards
to regain contact with the units being cut off between Hoth's
forward units and the motorized troops in Smolensk. On 18
July, 17 Panzer Division was shifted from it's flank protection
duties east of Orsha to the fields south of Smolensk. It's
mission was to keep the advancing Soviets from the Dniepr
crossings east of Smolensk. Mitch Hagmaier smolensk.zip

Between Lake Orekhi and the Smolensk-Minsk Highway, Belorussia.
Operation Bagration was timed to coincide with the third
anniversary of the Nazi invasion of the Soviet Union on
23 June. Four Soviet Fronts assaulted Army Group Centre
in the marshy, sandy forests of Belorussia. One of the few
sectors on which the Germans had enough resources to resist
the onslaught was along the Smolensk-Minsk Highway, where
the specially constituted 78 Sturm Division of 4 Army was
dug in behind extensive field fortifications in the fields
east of Orsha. A significant percentage of Army Group Centre's
armor and heavy weapons were concentrated along this stretch
of tank-friendly terrain. The shock troops of 3
Belorussian Front enjoyed little success against the frontal
defenses of the Orsha position, losing many heavy tanks
and assault guns against the dug-in troops of 4 Army. Much
less resistance was found on the northern flank, where the
Germans had failed to defend a marsh situated between the
78th and 256th Divisions. On the morning of the 24th, the
Germans discovered Soviet troops some ten kilometers behind
their lines. Units were yanked from the main line of resistance
and thrown against the breakthrough before the Russians
could push a tank corps through the gap. A fierce encounter
battle broke out between the Corps armor of 16 Guards Rifle
Corps and the ad-hoc reaction force. The battle decided
the fate of the defensive line in front of Orsha.

Army Group South
October 12th,
1943.
Somewhere along the Dniepr River.
The Soviet fall offensive has driven Army Group South back
with heavy losses. The weakness in our infantry
divisions has compelled us to dig in along the Dniepr, where
our reduced resources can be concentrated. We
have been able to contain the Russian advance for more than
a month now. The majority of 48 Panzer
Korps is tied down at the Veliki Bukrin bridgehead, leaving
only a small kampfgruppe free to contest any
attempts to cross the river. 111 Infantry Regiment has reported
reconnaissance in force on their front,
and are dubious about their ability to withstand a crossing
on the various fords in their sector. If
the Russians reach the highway in 111 Infantry Regiment's
rear, the whole of 48th PzKorps may be
cut off! - C.M. Hagmaier. Fooleternal@delphi.com.

Karostyshev, Between Zhitomir and Kiev, the Ukraine.
The Soviet autumn offensive has driven Army Group South
from it's defenses along the Dniepr, and Kiev has been retaken.
A great salient has been driven between Army Group Centre
and Army Group South. 48 Panzer Corps, South's fire brigade,
has been given the majority of the intact panzer divisions
for a flanking attack against the triumphant armies of Vatutin's
2 Ukrainian Front. As the spearheads of this counterattack
approached it's first objective, Zhitomir, the Russians
had managed to organize a response against the counteroffensive,
throwing 1st Guards Cavalry Corps, 5 Guards Tank Corps,
and 8 Guards Tank Corps against the flanks of 48 Panzer
Corps. 1 SS Panzer Division "Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler"
was covering this flank in the vicinity of the town of Karostyshev.
Cavalry and tank forces struck this highly experienced formation

To the West of Kharkov, the Ukraine.
Operation Citadel has been canceled, and the armored reserves
rushed to other fronts. The Soviets, who have quickly bounced
back from the hideous losses at Prokharovka and Beresowka,
have launched a series of concentric offensives along the
frontage of Army Group South. The most recent offensive
struck a weak point on Eighth Army's left flank, to the
southeast of 48 PzKorps. "GrossDeutschland" PanzerGrenadier
Division, which has been returned from OKH reserves to 48
PzKorps, was instructed to detach a reaction force to deal
with the Soviet forces pouring through the gap. The Soviets
are apparently not aware of the presence of this German
armored force, and Kampfgruppe von Natsmer is in a position
to catch a mechanized force from an unprotected flank. Mitch
