Note: There's deliberately no information on any living person on this site,
apart from me. It's the rules ;-)
All surnames that
appear in my tree are on the left menu.
As I'm only mentioning people who have passed away, I've made my grandparents
generation 1, my great-grandparents generation 2 etc. So in the menu,
for example, where it says gen 5, that means the link with the surname
starts at my great-great-great-great-grandparent...
means
I have a certificate (or a copy) for the data provided
My maternal line is

back to Leicestershire in 1770s so far
Thanks to Rebecca

A lot of people
left Auchinleck at the beginning of C19th - some, because of the new Cotton
Mill in Catrine. This was officially noted as partly responsible for the
decline in numbers of residents in Auchinleck as written in a parish report
around that time. Other people left to work at the Muirkirk Iron and Coal
Tar Works. However, by the mid 1830s, the population had more than doubled
with people working in the collieries nearby. Population end of C18th
was down to 775; by 1830s it was 1662. Read the Auchinleck parish
report on the Statistical
Accounts of Scotland website.
