Evaluation (Right click your mouse and press print or click on file menu and press save
as).
Your evaluation is an important part of your project and could account for a whole
grade in A to G terms.
It needs to be substantial to get the best marks.
The way you present it is up to you. Below I have given a few ideas as to what content
should be included.
- Look at your finished article and ask others to comment on it as well. What general
observations are you making?
- Would a short survey on peoples opinions give you a better idea?
- Does it work? Say what you think works well and why you consider it works well.
- Does it look good (Aesthetic), Say what you like about it? Which features are looking
good and which are not? How could you improve the poorer features?
- Does it feel good (ergonomic)? If it does say what is comfortable about the product when
it is being used. If not say what is uncomfortable and suggest how you could improve it.
- Does it fit the specification that you wrote? (Go through each of the points and say to
what degree it fits in with it.) If it doesnt fit because of modifications during
the time you were making it give reasons for this.
- What went wrong in the making? How did you put it right? Did you change the design,
redraw and re-make or slightly modify and drift away from the specification?
- Imagine you have everything to do again.
- Would you choose the same design? If so look at the answers to the questions above and
explain your new design with any modifications. Do a drawing to make things clearer.
- How would you improve that design if you were to choose the same one again?
- If you were to choose a different design why would you change? Make diagrams of your new
design with notes to say why you chose it.
- Make comments on the materials you have used and say whether you think they were the
best for the job. If not which are and why?
- Dont be afraid to pull your work to pieces if that is what is required. But
dont pull it to pieces without suggesting alternatives for re-making.
- Give yourself plenty of time to do the evaluation and get someone who has tested the
product to read it and comment on your findings.
I would try to write 4 to 5 pages including diagrams and drawings of any new design or
alterations I would consider making.
Finally make sure you leave spaces for photographs of the finished article.
