Engineer's Square - Marks and tests 90 degree angles is made of metal. Often used with a scriber for marking ends and waste.

You have to be accurate to end up with a good job.

The scriber is used instead of a pencil (pencil rubs off) for marking work. It is made of hardened steel.

Steel rules are used for the vast majority of measuring but if more accurate measuring is needed a micrometer would be used. This can measure accurately to 100th of a mm.

Engineer dividers are used for drawing circles and arcs and used for stepping off the same distance more than once.

The centre punch is for making dents for centres of circles and holes.

TIP

Whilst some of these tools can be used on other materials i.e. plastic it is always best to seek advice before using tools on materials for which they were not designed.
