Gorsty Bank - us, our smallholding, the boat, the woodland
the walled garden full of this years veg Greg, Wendy, Bryn(8) and Alecia(3) live at Gorsty Bank for most of the year. The area where we live is one of the most rural areas in England. Bircher Common is common land open to all and adjoins our smallholding. We have pigs, sheep, hens and ducks and a recently planted woodland of three acres. During the year we provide most of our own vegetables (thanks to Greg). Everything is grown and reared to organic standards although we are not registered as organic (we barter more than we sell). Our sheep are the Ambrey flock of pedigree Shetlands, small and hardy and with many interesting colours.
Hazey Meadow - will become Hazey Wood one day. We have planted about 1200 young trees a lot of which were donated by various individuals and organisations. Our aim is to sell small plots - about the size of the centre of a cricket pitch - the money will go to buying more land on which to plant trees with a small percentage going to saving rainforests. We are not making any money from this, we just want to see more trees in the world. For a save the rainforest site try rainforest.care2.com children in hazey meadow before planting
Trunkles negotiating an aqueduct Trunkles - Our narrow boat. This is where we go when the house is rented out. How awful!
