Hog The Limelight
Holybourne Theatre are very proud to be associated with Hampshire County Council's Hog The Limelight scheme. This is only our second season of membership, our first year involved two very funny and successful family shows from Circus Berzercus and Strange Face.
We are pleased to announce that this season we are hosting three Hog events the first being a Tropical Beach Party on Saturday 1st September 2007 featuring the amazing Keith Waithe and the Macusi players. Our second event is on Saturday 24th November 2007 and will consist of an evening with the very funny comedian Dominic Holland (yes the man off the tele and radio!). Last but not least will be Instant Wit on Saturday March 15th 2008 a hilarious improvised act with lashings of audience participation!

What is Hog the Limelight?
Hog the Limelight is Hampshire County Council’s arts touring scheme which takes professional, affordable arts and entertainment to rural and urban edge communities. Started in 1985 by the Recreation Department of the County, it was one of the first touring schemes of its kind in the country; today there are 40 others which are run along similar lines but supported and funded in a variety of different ways.
The scheme provides a menu of professional performances and also participatory workshops for 40-50 communities. Expressions of interest from new villages are held on a waiting list. A showcase/networking event is held once a year in a different part of Hampshire for promoters to get together to network with neighbouring communities on the scheme and to see performance excerpts to help them make their decisions.
The scheme is primarily funded and managed by the Arts Service of the Recreation and Heritage Department of the Council, with additional support from the Isle of Wight, Winchester, New Forest, Basingstoke and Deane, East Hampshire Test Valley and Hart District Councils. This support guarantees that villages in these districts can be members of the scheme.
Hog the Limelight meets the Recreation and Heritage Department’s priorities and strategic outcomes under Access, Inclusion and Participation. It also delivers the Corporate and Cultural Strategy objectives with the aim of developing new audiences for cultural services, and social cohesion.
