Rehearsals for Snow White - Alton Gazette, November 29th 2000 Seven herbs for Snow White in Holybourne Try to imagine the Story of Snow White set in the Wild West. If you can't , then there is no point in your going to pantomime anyway! This is a thoroughly traditional pantomime, with loads of audience participation, plenty of songs and of course, some very traditional jokes. The Holybourne Theatre is not large so one cannot expect major special effects, but the intimacy is exploited with a marvellous rapport between the two sides of the footlights. The mainstay of the production is John Priddle's Dame, Cindy Witty, a lady who seems to share Marge Simpson's hairdresser. Her antagonist, Lady Bella Donna, played by Irene Wettone, is so thoroughly evil that we must be grateful that the local supply of henchmen, the Burp family, leaves so much to be desired. Chris Farthing is Sheriff Burp, Cliff Dallimore-Crook and Time Dye are his sons Wyatt and Erp. The other members of her team are Lawyer Spout (Leanne Vincent) and a Magic Mirror eerily played by Kathy McGill. Stacie Harrod is a delightful Snow White, complemented by a charming Prince Caspian played by Kimberley Temple. Although their voices are not strong, their solo were delivered with clarity and charm . Veronica Ferguson took time out from the role of Comedy Sidekick to sing during the ballet sequence. There were several songs from the chorus, one a bit wobbly, but the rest were delivered with gusto. The music throughout the evening was played by Diane Byrne, Mick Deegan and Charles Byrne. The place of the Dwarves was taken by the seven Herb brothers (and one sister) who helped see good prevail. One of the strengths of the Holybourne Theatre is the thriving and talented Youth Theatre, which gave as good a performance as I have seen. Peter Stone directed the pantomime and he should be most gratified by the performance put on by his team on the stage and behind the scenes. The evening sped by and I was conscious of some aching muscles brought about by laughing more than my body is used to - Alton Gazette January 31st 2001 THE MAIN PLAYERS
Charlotte Parkins - Choreographer - Charlotte has been a member of Holybourne Theatre for 21 years, and a committee member for 12 years. She studied at the Hampshire County Specialist Drama Course at the South Downs College, and studied ballet and tap for 12 years and has taught modern dance. She now helps to run Holybourne Youth Theatre. In panto Charlotte has played principal girl countless times! Outside of Holybourne Theatre she has toured with the Tonal Theatre Company's chamber opera of Sweet Fanny Adams, and has attended numerous summer schools at the Sylvia Young Theatre School. Charlotte has won bronze, silver and gold awards in the LAMDA speaking of verse and prose examinations. |

Peter has been a member of the theatre since joining to play the Bergermeister in 'The Pied Piper'. He has written 'Adventure in Pantoland' and co-wrote 'Cinderella'. This is however the first time Peter has stepped off the stage to direct. Once this production is over Peter is looking forward to sleeping again! ED - That'll teach him not to write his own biography!
John was born in Alton. He started acting during his first year at Amery Hill School (Alton County Secondary). After leaving school he joined Holybourne Theatre, his first production was 'The Snow Queen'. This was a panto type production where he played a non-speaking reindeer. Since then he has acted in numerous productions. In panto, he has played most of the traditional characters, recently dame.
Chris currently works as a Civil Servant in Guildford. He has been involved with the Theatre for over 18 years, having joined as a member of the Youth Theatre. He has appeared in numerous plays and is one of only two members of the current cast to have had a role the last time that Holybourne Theatre put on this Pantomime. As well as acting he is also Vice-Chairman and Treasurer of the group
Irene moved to Holybourne from Twickenham in 1993. With no previous experience in amateur dramatics, she joined Holybourne Theatre in 1997. Her father worked at London Weekend Television Studios and as a child and teenager she was often allowed to spend days at the studios and says she has always felt at home around performing arts and always wanted to get involved in a minor way. So far she has taken part in three performances in Holybourne. Irene really enjoys the theatre - particularly pantomime - and benefits from the contrast between her work as a probation officer and her activities with the theatre.
Stacie is 15 and has been at Holybourne Theatre since she was nine. She has played Mr Bilge a seafaring rat in the Youth Theatre production of 'Utter Garbage', Linda in 'Blow the Wind Southerly' and Red Riding Hood in 'Little Red Riding Hood'.
Kim is 15 years old and has been a member of the Youth Theatre for the last 3 years, though has attended the summer workshops for the past 6 years. Last year Kim played 'Rose' the principle girl in 'Hansel & Gretel' and during the summer took part in the Haymarket Drama Workshop
Cliff is 35 years young and has been involved with Holybourne Theatre (albeit backstage) for approx. two years. This is the first time however that he has been co-ersed to appear on the stage.
'PS - If you find a nut & bolt under your seat, could I please have it back as the wind whistles through the hole in my neck!'
Tim joined Holybourne Theatre, or rather the youth theatre in 1997 at the age of 10 after seeing the panto 'Adventure in Pantoland'. Since then he has appeared in many performances such as Peter in 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe' and the Tinman in the 'Wizard of Oz'.
Musical Director - Diane has been teaching in the fields of music and special education for over 12 years and currently works at Whitedown School. She has performed in a variety of musical ensembles as a singer, flautist or accompanist and ran her own Music Club for 4 years. In the course of her teaching Diane has taken a variety of courses in drama and drama therapy. Diane has been involved in Holybourne Theatre for the past 10 years after initially coming along 'just to help out' with the music for the pantomime 'Babes in the Wood'
