Dan from Chicago Not just a list of publications...
This book has some really detailed how-to information for
those submitting their photographs to various kinds of
publications and organizations. You could probably live
without a copy, but not if your goal is to make a living as
a photographer.
A reader from U.S. This book is a wonderful reference
for beginning and experienced photographers alike. Anyone
wishing to make money from his/her photography needs this
book. In addition to the staggering list of markets and
individual sources, this book covers basics such as
copyright law, license types, taxes, etc...
Although it's not a novel, I have, on occasion found
myself reading each entry page by page. It's almost a lesson
in itself on what to expect from a given market, and how to
approach it. An indispensable tool. Want to make some cash
with your photography? Start here!
A reader from Madison, Wisconsin This book gives you a
choice of places to sell your photos to different cities and
publications. You may stick to just magazines and books or
choose postcards and greeting cards. This book is definately
well worth it. It not only tells youwhere to sell and who to
contact, but what to do before even thinking of submitting
your photos to a particular company. To go along with this
book, I also recommend Sell and Resell Your Photos by Rohn
Engh. It goes wonderful with it.

Sell
and Resell Your Photos - Rohn Engh
Amazon Price: £10.39
Reviews - Amazon.com
What distinguishes Rohn Engh's book on how to sell
photographs--now in its fourth edition--from the many
volumes on the subject?
Could it be his honest, no-nonsense approach to the
topic, as opposed to the get-rich-quick slant of many
competitors? His practical, step-by-step advice? His
pragmatic sales techniques and principles, which teach niche
marketing and explain the vast difference between good
pictures of popular subjects (sunsets, wildflowers) and the
type of photographs in demand by the editors who actually
buy them? All of the above and more, including solid advice
about selling photos in the electronic age.

Reviews from Amazon readers (all awarded the book 5 out
of 5)
The Business of Portrait Photography offers excellent
insight for people considering entry into this exciting line
of work. I am in the beginning stages of opening my own
portrait photography business, and found the information in
Mr.McDonald's book quite helpful and well-written. It is not
easy to find photographers willing to share their experience
with newcomers, and this book does exactly that. If you are
curious about this field, I highly recommend this book.
Extremely enlightening. This book offered much
information for me. I'm not a beginner, yet not quite a
professional, a book like this is capable of filling in the
space between the two. The author also utilize the expertise
of fellow professional photographers, making it a well
rounded book. I must repeat this is definitely an Excellent
book, easy to read and understand, yet it offered a
professional perspective that did not try to "write over your
head" definitely a creation of love!
This is easily the most helpful and practical book I
have every read on operating a photography business. It
doesn't just cover the "big picture", although it does that
well, going into different philosophies, styles and
approaches to business of different photographers. It covers
every practical aspect of the business, going into details
other books don't bother mentioning. I wish I had read this
book when I started my business it would have saved me a lot
of time and money.
