The Andalusian.
  The Andalusian.
The Andalusian takes its name from Andalusia, the region in southern Spain where it was first bred. Because it combines graceful movement with a willing temperament, it makes a quality dressage horse. The Andalusian is also popular for general riding and often appears in festivals and ceremonies. This noble breed has very ancient origins, and is thought to be based on native Spanish horses and hot bloods from North Africa. Its purity is due to monks who, in the 15th century, worked to prevent cross-breeding.
