Cup Form Proves Illusive !

Hutton exited in the early rounds of both Cockspur and Essex League Cup in the past fortnight but on both occasion they didnt go down without a fight.

In the Cockspur Cup on Sunday 4th May they travelled to Fords in Newbury Park. After losing the toss they were soon up against it as Fords bowlers took wickets regularly.Hutton batted for 35 overs reaching a dissapointing 90 all out with only Sam Pountney 23 and Chris McNally 11 reaching double figures. For the home side Aftab Khan and Khalid Hussain shared 7 wickets. In reply Fords never had it all there own way only passing Hutton's total with 8 wickets down.

Cocklin,McNally,Vanner and Steve Hammond each took 2 wickets each.

Hutton 90 all Out (35 overs)

Fords Sports and Social 91-8 (29.1 overs)

Fords won by 2 wickets

The Previous saturday they took on Chingford in the League cup but once again on a slow  wicket runs were hard to come by and they made only 145-9.Simon Thurston and Robbie Hayne with 45 and 32 started a recovery after the loss of early wickets. But 145 never seemed enough.Replying Chingford passed the Hutton total for the loss of 5 wickets with Rhone making 55 not out.Good bowling and a spirited fielding performance will give Hutton hope going into the first league match on May 10th.By then the side will included overseas  all rounder  James Day and hopefully he will cover for the loss of Dave Hammond and Jim Crapnell

Hutton 145-9(45 overs)

Chingford 146-5 (42.3 Overs)

Chingford won by 5 wickets

A Message from the Club Captain

Well, the 2008 season is now in full swing and new look Hutton sides take to the field with hopes of success for the matches    ahead.  Coach - Mike Boyers has made a welcome return and in  just a few months of pre-season training has already started

making an impact with his style of mentoring.

Already our opponents have intimated that we are not as strong as last year after losing our two best players in Dave Hammond and Naeem Iqbal and also having Rob Hayne step down as Club

and 1st XI Captain.  I am happy for opposition clubs to continue

thinking this way.  Let's see if we can sneak a few wins while

no one is looking.
The one thing I want to highlight above all else this season is "enthusiasm".  Let us all get out on the field and lift our team mates with enthusiastic and energetic actions.  Some typical examples:  The diving stop to save four runs; The fast bowler who keeps on  going for another over even though his legs are gone; the batsman who  is all at sea but keeps taking it on the body for the team;  the words of encouragement to young guys making their way in the game.
I wish all Hutton players as much success as they deserve for the season ahead.  By that I mean, if you put in the effort at training and if you play smart and stay positive on the weekend you will be rewarded.
Finally, in my position as Club and 1st XI Captain, I will be looking for guys with the right attitude and competitive spirit to make their mark in the 1st Team.  With a successful 2nd XI last season, there should be a good fight for 1st Team places.  We will be looking at striking the right balance between giving young talent a chance

as well as winning as many matches as possible.
Anyway, I look forward to drinking many a winning beer with you all throughout the 2008 season.

However, that is of course dependent upon how long a leash my
wife keeps me on (and whether or not Robbie Hayne can drive me home afterwards).

Good luck and stay positive,

KD

Karl Danenbergsons
Club Captain
