I arrived in Stuttgart, exhausted from driving from Sweden, at five o'clock on September 11th. Two hours later I was at Gottlieb-Daimler Stadion to watch VfB Stuttgart play 1-1 against Shalke 04. We decided that we wanted to see the game against Munich (München) on December 7th also and a few days later we bought the tickets. Some of the very last tickets we were told.

The months passed swiftly and it was soon the day of the game, the battle of the south. The day before was our long trip to Neuschwanstein, so tired I went practicly straight from bed to John's where the others had already gathered. Soon we were on our way to the stadium together with 55 000 others, (too) many of them Bavarian (from Bayern). Hans, Jari, John, Pete, Tomi and me had bought the tickets together and there was also Raph who somehow had managed to get a ticket for himself. Outside of the stadium I bought the neccesary VfB-scarf before we went in to see the kick off.

VfB Stuttgart started well and had most of the possession of the ball through the whole game, unfortunately without creating many goal chances. However, after only 30 minutes, Bayern led with 3-0 following three counter attacks after individual mistakes from Stuttgart players. The game was over, a huge anticlimax.

VfB Stuttgart have played better since and is now in February on the third place in Bundesliga, with the same number of points as second placed Dortmund. In the UEFA-cup they are playing against Celtic in the next round, a win there and it will most likely be Liverpool in the next round.
