Cannstatter Volksfest in Stuttgart, Bad Cannstatt is very much the same thing as the more famous Oktoberfest in München: They take place at the same time and the difference is that Volksfest is smaller, but much better, the latter at least if you ask people from Schwaben. Personally i liked Volksfest better, it is not as commercialized as Oktoberfest and not as crowded in the days and on the streets, although the tents are just as lively and crowded in the evenings. The Volksfest goes on for 16 days and since I had no German class like most of the other exchange students had I could go there pretty much. The night these pictures were taken was a Thursday night and a really big group of exchange students had decided to go. Somebody knew that masses of beer (one liter) were sold cheaply in one tent so we went there. After a while we noticed that something was a little bit different, it was a gay-evening, for example a cabaret with males in the role of females was played on the stage. However there were many of us and keeping close to a female friend of mine I had a great evening, like the rest of the group. Pictures are from Hans's camera and are photographed by many different people. |
