Surveillance of Tubercolosis in Europe
European Association of Nurses in AIDS Care
The European Association of Nurses in AIDS Care (EANAC) is an association of those nurses who are working in HIV/AIDS care in the European region. Its function is to bring together those nurses (and other care workers), who at some time, have an interest in caring for people with HIV/AIDS, those who are engaged in HIV/AIDS prevention work, outreach work, and lecturers on HIV or sexual health courses.

The European Union's HIV/AIDS programme, from 1998, aims to emphasize: monitoring and surveillance of the epidemic and the risks related to it; early interventions targeted at specific populations; information and prevention measures aimed at those most vulnerable to acquiring and transmitting the virus; providing affordable community-based care for the poorest and neediest people affected by AIDS; and scientific learning and training.

Southern Africa AIDS Information Dissemination Service (SAfAIDS)
The main purpose of SAfAIDS, a subregional nongovernmental organization established in 1994, is to help strengthen capacity to address the socio-economic impact of AIDS and to promote HIV prevention in southern Africa, all in the context of understanding the epidemic as a crucial issue for development. SAfAIDS promotes policy, research, planning and programme development around HIV/AIDS in the southern Africa region, working with NGOs, PWAs, government bodies, international agencies, research institutes, media organizations, the private sector, labour and others. The web site contains publications, fact sheets, policy statements, statistics, descriptions of its initiatives and further links.

On its web site the University of Zambia Medical Library Guide to Medical Resources contains a special section on HIV/AIDS in Zambia in its Health in Zambia pages. The section includes a compilation of information from the HEALTH-L, the Zambian Electronic Mailing List on Health Issues, and material gathered by scanning the web sites of Zambian newspapers. Straight Talk in Uganda
Straight Talk Foundation, which originated out of the UNICEF-funded Straight Talk newspaper first published in 1993, is a communication NGO that been produces IEC materials for adolescents and young adults. Its broad objective is to contribute to the improved mental, social and physical development of these groups in Uganda. The programme also aims to keep its target audience safe from HIV/STD infection and any early pregnancy, through its communications projects by increasing the understanding of adolescence, sexuality and reproductive health, and to promote the adoption of safer sex practices.

This Venezuelan NGO works mostly on human rights and HIV/AIDS issues. It is a Focal Point of LACCASO, the Latin America and the Caribbean Council of AIDS Service Organizations, which is a regional branch of ICASO, and participated in the II International Consultation on Human Rights, organized by the Human Rights Centre, the High Commission on Human Rights and UNAIDS. The Web site includes information on ACCSI and its activities, and on human rights and HIV/AIDS including legislation and recent publications.

This Peruvian AIDS organization has two main aims: to cooperate with the fight against the spread of HIV/AIDS in Peru (through training and prevention programmes) and to contribute to the development of a better quality of life for people affected directly and indirectly by the AIDS epidemic, in particular strengthening the more vulnerable groups (through different services and programmes).
