Welcome to the home
page of the Inverurie and District Horticultural Society. The aim of this site is to highlight
the activities of the Horticultural Society, to encourage new members
and share our experiences of gardening. The Society exists primarily to
organise and promote the annual show and we welcome entries from both
experienced and new exhibitors. You do not need to be a gardening
expert to enjoy this pastime and our current membership represents a
broad spectrum of local people. Gardening is immensely satisfying, sometimes frustrating but always a learning experience. No matter what the function of your garden may be, the Horticultural Society would welcome your contributions and pictures of your show entries could appear on this site. In addition
to cut flowers and vegetables, we have a wide selection of classes to
enter including floral art, home baking, preserves, handicrafts, sections for
younger members, beginners and senior citizens. This is an activity for all the
family. Experienced exhibitors click here to go straight to the most recent schedule. The schedule has already undergone a number of changes as a result of comments made by members and visitors. New sections were created for miscellaneous (handicrafts) and beginners classes and we are now awarding trophies for best exhibits. This means that you do not need to enter a lot of classes in order to achieve recognition. We have introduced a number of new classes for youngsters so it is hoped that this will encourage more people to have a go. In addition to the schedule details, this site also provides an update of events in the `Whats new` page, and a growing and showing guide for those new to gardening and exhibiting. If you would like to make any comments or suggestions for change about the schedule contents, please contact one of the committee members on the contacts page. We welcome feedback from exhibitors and visitors. You would normally expect to have an e-mail contact on a web site but I got so fed up constantly downloading all the spam that I gave up on it. |
