MEETINGS If you would like to find out about what happens behind the scenes when staging an event like the flower show, then come along to our next meeting on 13 September 2007 at the British Legion, Inverurie starting at 7.30 pm. We would welcome any new members and helpers. Either turn up on the night or contact one of the committee members on the contacts page. We like to think that we are a friendly bunch so don't be shy. PLANT SALE To organise and stage a horticultural show takes money, so we hold a plant sale at the end of May to raise the necessary funds. The 2007 event was held on Saturday, 26th May in Inverurie Town Hall. We usually enjoy an excellent turn out both of plants for sale and happy shoppers so make a note in your diary to make sure that you don't miss the bargains. You are guaranteed reasonably priced good quality produce. We are extending our range of bedding plants, vegetables and perennials each year. If you make your main bedding plant purchases at this sale, you will be able to plant them out straight afterwards because the main risk of frost will be over. FLOWER SHOW The 2007 flower show was staged on 1 September in Inverurie Town Hall. As well as a number of new classes, we have also made changes to the award of trophies. There are a number of new trophies for best exhibits so this means that you do not need to enter a lot of classes in order to achieve recognition. We had an increase in the number of entries last year and were pleased to see several new exhibitors. Even if you do not intend to enter any of the classes, it is well worth a visit to see the excellent selection of local garden produce, crafts and baking. Please see the contacts list, or go to the schedule page to view the wide range of classes that were available for 2007. This will give a reasonable indication of the classes available for 2008. The details for 2008 will be posted on this site early in the New Year. Schedules are available from any of the committee members.
