Black Belt 1st Dan Seyah Kickboxing ( As Ratified by The Cobra Martial Arts Association ) Brown Belt 2nd Kyu Shotokan Karate A breif history I have a long history in the fighting arts going back to when I was 6 years old at the Speke boys boxing club in Liverpool. I moved over to Traditional Shotakan karate in the early 80's, untill settling with a Shukoki based club after moving to Manchester in 1989. At the same time I was interested in doing competition. so I took up the freestyle side of Karate in 1990. In 1997 I achieved my 1st Dan in Jiyuseishin Kai karate, at the same time I began mixing my old boxing style with my freestyle karate and when I joined The C.M.A.A in 2001 I had already established my freestyle system which incorporated Traditional Karate, Freestyle Karate & kickboxing. After a grueling grading assesment in 2005, I gained my 3rd Dan with C.M.A.A. I also felt at this time that I wanted to experiment more with my kickboxing I trained with Cobra Kickboxing under Gunshi Andrew Morell and also full contact with Brian Barnes of Spirit Combat Kickboxing. I continued to develope my own ideas and techniques teaching them at my club. and In 2005 I took my 1st Dan with Cobra Kickboxing, but introduced my own system techniques as well I was successful in my grading and after some discussion with the head of our association it was felt that my system be given a name and so Seyah Kickboxing was born.
