DunblaneFrom Stirling, cros the road bridge, with the Old Bridge on your left. Continue towards the Wallace Monument. Take the first exit to Bridge of Allan.
Continue through Bridge of Allan, past Lecropt Church, and on to the roundabout at the moterway end. Take 4th exit to Dunblane.
Follow signs to the Dunblane Town Centre and to the Cathedral, Museum and nearby Leighton Library.
A popular Folk Club evening is held in Dunblane every Sunday evening .
Car park to rear of Cathedral. Return by one-way system to dual carriageway at the Fourways roundabout. Turn right here and follow the dual carriageway downhill, 3rd exit, to the traffic lights, and then follow the right turning signs for Doune.
DouneAs you enter Doune, cross the bridge and immediately turn left for 14th century Doune Castle, favourite hunting seat of the Stewart kings. Return to the main road through the village and turn left.
At junction with A84 turn right and in 1 mile on right, you find the Scottish Antiques and Arts Centre.
At this point you may continue on the A84 to Callander which is described on website 'Loch Lomond, Trossachs and Callander Tourist Information'.
On leaving Antiques Centre turn left on the A84 towards Doune keeping to the main road and down to cross the River Teith by the old bridge - reputed to have been built because the ferryman refused to turn out for the king.
Turn right to visit Deanston village. Built to house workers for the water powered cotton mill which is now a distillery.
Return to the main road to continue back towards Stirling for about 2 miles. Turn left to Blairdrummond Safari Park’. Return towards Stirling for about a mile or so then turn right to Thornhill. At the west end of Thornhill, turn right then left which takes you after about 6 miles to Port of Menteith on your left down the B8034 to visit. A short boat trip takes you to the island where lies the monastery where Mary Queen of Scots played and sheltered from enemies as a child.
Continue South to the A811 where turn left and return to Stirling.
