Mel Rees Memorial Tournament
The 4th Annual Mel Rees tournament is taking place sometime during the summer
and
again it will be held at the Sheffield United Hallam FM academy on Firshill
Crescent, Shirecliffe.
Again an ex-Sheffield United team full of stars from Blades teams of the past
will be competing in the tournament. Previous All Stars teams have
included Glyn Hodges, Keith Curle, Chris Wilder, John Gannon and many
more. Other teams such as the Blades backroom staff, various invited IFA
teams and of course a few Inter Blades teams make up the 16 team tournament.
At present we are looking for sponsors, companies or even individuals who may
wish to place adverts in the tournament programme, or even supply raffle prizes.
All the proceeds from this event goes to the St Lukes Hospice, who always send a
representative to the tournament and give the event some press coverage.
The "Mel Rees Memorial Trophy" which all the teams compete for, is
displayed in the Sheffield United Hall of Fame throughout the year... there is
even a question about our trophy in the Hall of Fame Tour quiz! We've raised
on average £1,000+ every year so we'd like to increase that average this year
with everybody's help.
There are hot meals and drinks available from the academy club house, and snacks
available with tea & coffee all day from the main Academy building.
