Player Awards - Season 2006/7

Player of the Year :  Sean Adamson

"Midfield General" Sean is our most senior player at a mere 46 years of age!  Despite "knocking on a

bit" I'd have to say that he still covers more miles than any other player.  His tough tackling no-nonsense

game may upset one or two opponents in the middle of the park, but I've yet to see a malicious tackle made

(ok, one or two are generally a bit late... but we put that down to his... ahem... "experience").  Sean gained

35 Man of the Match  votes from his team mates throughout the season, 7 more than equal second place

James Tissington and Andy Wood.  Sean featured in 14 games throughout the season and found the net 3 times.

Young Player of the Year :  Christian Beckett

Young right winger Chris has grown in stature and confidence throughout the season, turning in a number of impressive

performances down the right hand side of the Inter Blades midfield.  His ability to beat a man then deliver a good cross has

been invaluable this season for the front men.  Chris also weighed in with his fair share of goals, scoring 5 goals in his 15

appearances throughout this season.  Chris received 14 votes from his team mates during the season, making him the highest

placed of the youngsters in the squad.

   Top Goalscorer :  Andy Wood

Target man Andy has been a real presence for the Inter Blades up front this season, his 6ft 5 frame has been a handful

for defence's throughout the IFA league .  Andy bagged 14 goals in his 13 games this season, including a spectacular

25 yard free kick in the IFA Cup semi-final.  Andy is the perfect foil for speedy strike partner Tom McCaig who finished

2nd to Andy in the goal scoring charts with 11 goals from his 17 games.

Andy is pictured here scoring one of the penalties in our IFA Cup 1/4 final shoot-out victory away at Farnborough.
