We formed around the year 2000, founder member Colin Walker had been chatting to a representative of the Motley Crewe team (Crewe Alexandra fans team) and they set about arranging a game in Sheffield. The game was advertised on Blades message boards and about 30 lads turned up for that first game at Graves Park. Throughout the remainder of the season we played another couple of games against Grimsby, Q.P.R. and the Owls. The following season we joined the IFA (Internet Football Association).
The IFA has about 60 plus
Supporters teams amongst it's ranks from both England and Scotland (including non-league
supporters teams). There is a league table, but there isn't a
structured fixture list as such. What generally happens is that if for
example the Blades are playing Preston on the Saturday afternoon, if both set's
of supporters teams are able to field a side then they would meet in the morning at
a pre-organised venue. Alternatively, if two teams are playing close to each other and
their opponents can't raise a team then they will play each other. You
can only play a maximum of 20 league games a season and only play each team
twice, although you can play as many additional friendlies as you want.
In the league you score 1 point for a loss, 2 for a draw and 3 for a win, the
1 point for a loss is to encourage teams to play league games even if they are
not picking up may positive results!
There is also an IFA UK cup where all the teams (who want to enter) from England and Scotland will be put into the draw (although the first 2 rounds are usually regionalised). In addition to that, several IFA teams, hold mini-tournaments of their own. One such tournament is Grimsby's "Comfort Day" Tournament of which the Inter Blades are the current holders (see Photos). The major event of the year though is the “Worldnet” competition, teams from as far as France, Holland, Italy and Greece have competed in this annual event over 1 weekend in July (although unfortunately we haven't entered ourselves yet). The tournament is again to be held in Leeds this year . Contacts : If you wish to contact us at all then please e-mail danny_brown73@yahoo.co.uk |
