| I
have often wondered which clues are evidence of a landscape spoiled by
human intervention. What is it that drives mankind to brutally intervene
on an asset which is common property and gives us the essential means to
our survival? Is nature our ally or our enemy? Are the elements called
upon to act balanced or biassed in favour of one of the opponents?
My
only attempt to give an answer points to our feeling of inferiority toward
the power of nature and of life in general. The evolution of our race has
led us to a point when we have deemed it possible to bend life to our minds'
plans, but at a certain point the light goes out.
Life,
intended as existence cycle, imposes its rules, leaving man's soul to wonder
over the possible whys and wherefores, which however will remain unanswered.
Man surpasses nature with his thoughts and actions but nature awaits and
eventually demands her toll in a game of unstable balance where man acts
as a Promethean loser. |
