FOR SALE! As I have been out of the LG DVD scene for over a year now, I have decided to put this site and/or domain up for sale. If you are interested in taking it on and injecting some new life, please email enquiries@lgdvd.co.uk.

IMPORTANT SITE NEWS. After almost a year in the making and nearly 85,000 hits the time has come for LG DVD Uncovered to enter a state of stasis. For a number of personal reasons I will no longer be updating the site for the foreseeable future. However, all the existing content will remain here for reference as long as it stays useful and relevant.
Further more, the Forum will remain available for as long as it remains in active use. Therefore if you do have any questions, can I please ask you to first check the FAQ, or failing that, post to the Forum.
Please can I ask that you refrain from emailing me direct, as I am unlikely to reply - sorry.
Finally, I would like to say thanks to all those who have visited, supported and contributed to the site. I have enjoyed working on the site very much, but now it is time to move on to pastures (and players) new.

Do you really want an LG DVD-3350E but can't find one anywhere? Then why not buy mine! Arguably the world's most famous LG DVD player is on auction, pre-hacked for multi-region and VCD playback. Now sold, thanks for the interest.

Bit of a rainy day, so due to popular request and LG's reluctance to update their official website, I have added a basic page for the LG DA-3520. Unfortunately there will not be any more in-depth information posted on this beast, unless of course, someone sends me a review model... ;-)
Received confirmation that the VCD hack works on the Finlux DVD F-2501 (thanks Joonas L.).
11th September 2001
Received confirmation that the VCD hack works on the new LG DVD-4830 (thanks PegasusOS2).
21st August 2001
Received confirmation that the VCD hack works on the new LG DVD-4950 (thanks Joniz).
1st August 2001

27th July 2001
LG DVD Uncovered has been selected by Tripod as one of their "Best Member Sites", which is nice. See the site in lights here.
24th July 2001
Revised the old Downloads page so that it has become a fully fledged Firmware Update page and now features exclusive pictures of the elusive Jig board! Many thanks go to the contributor of the original photos who has asked to remain anonymous.
Added the DA-3520 and DVD-4210 to the Player Gallery due to popular request.
17th July 2001
Received confirmation that the VCD hack works on the new LG DVD-4750 (thanks TKai).
Added a new Firmware Update page which features the FlashRom utility and firmware binaries. Unfortunately, unless you have some specialist equipment and really know what you are doing, these will be of no use to you.
8th July 2001
Received confirmation that the VCD hack works on the new LG DVD-4730 (thanks Jorgo). This bodes well for the other 4000 series players, however I must stress that it has not been tested on any other models.
26th June 2001
Updated the GUI Guide page. That ends this current spell of updates.
25th June 2001
Added a DVD Video Retailers section to the Links page. Now you'll be able to stock up on those multi-region titles for your hacked players (thanks Alex M.). Re-worked the FAQ to make it less model specific (whilst trying not to make it too vague) and also added a couple of new entries.

Woa! Major site revamp. So many updates that it hurts! The LG DVD-3350E gains some new higher quality images and moves into it's own little section, thus making room for the new boys in town. They are to be found in the LG DVD-4x50E section which features high quality pictures and full specification for the LG DVD-4750E and LG DVD-4950E. The old 'Clones' page now becomes the Player Gallery and of course features all the new LG DVD players. The rest of the site has been given a good 'stir' to hopefully make it more accessible to all owners of LG DVD players - regardless of model. Finally, I couldn't resist the opportunity to make a new logo :-)
12th June 2001
The new LG DVD players are now starting to show up in stores across Europe. Full specification is still a little sketchy, but it would appear that the DVD-4710 is the replacement for the DVD-3200, and the DVD-4750 is the replacement for the DVD-3350 (having an in-built Dolby Digital decoder). The good news is that both players can also be made multi-region by using the regular remote hack.
11th June 2001
Made a few minor updates to the FAQ.
10th May 2001
The new firmware is now available. It appears to be a tweaked version of the v1.4 firmware dated 22/02/2001, rather than a completely new release (for ease of identification let's call it v1.4b). For a pop-up of the new firmware display screen click here (thanks Mikey). The good news is that all the hacks still work, the bad news is that it doesn't seem to have addressed all the problem discs. 'Toy Story' and 'Fantasia' now work fine, however 'X-Men' still does not. For updated info on problem discs and how to obtain a firmware update check out the Problems page.

18th March 2001
A quick note to any LG DVD-3200E owners, please do not try the VCD hack on your players. It really does screw them up completely.
Added 'The Cell' to the Problems page (thanks Deano).
16th March 2001
Not really news, just a quick note about the LG DVD Forum, with which some people seem to have registration problems. If you register you have to wait an hour or two before you receive a validation email. However, to make the forum as accessible as possible, registration is not required. Having said that, global registration is useful as it enables extra features and you can use your login for any forum hosted by the ezboard system.
Remember: You are much more likely to get a reply to your questions if you post them in the forum. :-)
8th March 2001
Added two more ratings summaries and links to the DVD-3350E Ratings page. Guess what - they are not bad (thanks Ann H.).

As a few of you have been trying to use the GuestBook as an improvised forum, I thought it was probably time we had a proper one. So post to your hearts content over at the new LG DVD Forum.
4th March 2001
I have had confirmation (thanks to Paul) that the VCD hack works on the LG DVD-3000E and also enables MP3 playback at the same time! However, it would appear that the transport on this player does not support CD-R/CD-RW so only original pressed VCDs and CD-ROMs can be played.
Updated the MP3 page with details of the file formats supported. If you have more definitive findings please let me know.
24th February 2001
The 10,000 hits barrier is smashed! Now receiving well over one hundred hits per day! And so to celebrate I have made you a new logo, hope ya like it. Also, to reflect the fact that the site is just as relevant to 3351E owners as 3350E ones, I have made a very slight name change - "LG DVD-3350/1E Uncovered".
Updated 'The Cranberries' entry on the Problems page with direct track access info (thanks again Alex M.).
21st February 2001
Well the VCD hack seems to be causing quite a buzz, I don't think my inbox has ever been so busy! It would appear that this hack, along with multi-region one, also works on the LG DVD-3351E from across The Channel. It would therefore seem fairly reasonable to assume that it will work on any 335xx series DVD player.
Added 'Fantasia Box Set' to the Problems page (thanks Nick W.). Added a link to some VCD info on the Links page. I guess you will be needing this now :-)
20th February 2001
Here it is, the big one you have all been crying out for, the VCD playback hack for the LG DVD-3350E! Big thanks go to Alan S. for discovering the final missing piece of the puzzle I have been trying to crack for the past few months. Without further delay I suggest you head over to the VCD section.
19th February 2001
Added 'The Cranberries' and 'Fight Club' to the Problems page (thanks Alex M.).
18th February 2001
World wide demand for the C-Cube Ziva-4 decoder chip means that the LG DVD-3350E is a little hard to get hold of at the moment. However, http://www.direct-electricals.co.uk/ do have very limited stocks, so get 'em while they're hot!
1st February 2001
Added a more detailed picture of the remote to the DVD-3350E Outside page.
31st January 2001
Fame (but no fortune) at last! LG DVD-3350E Uncovered makes the news over at DVD Reviewer.
