My Awards

Well, I usually don't brag much, but I'm in a good mood today. However, I just got two full rows of new awards and today was my only day to wear them (I'm a graduating senior and today was the last uniform day), so I thought I'd just showcase them permanently on my web page. Following some awards there is either bronze, silver, or gold. These are lamps you get to put on the award when you earn it multiple times. Bronze for the second, silver for the third, and then gold. After that, you don't get any more. Awards are worn above the pocket on the wearer's left.

There are more than just ribbons. I'm, like, so totally decked out. Three shoulder coards, arcs, my academic achievement badge, and my qualification badge.

The Academic Achievement Badge is awarded annually to cadets with in the top 10% of Military Science grades. A coloured felt pad placed behind the wreath indicates sucessive awards (red for second, then grey and gold; as in the image, I have gold). The yellow star in the middle is a unit award, Honour Unit with Distinction. Everyone in the unit has one. If you have an academic achievement badge, the star is worn centred within the wreath. These are worn centred above the pocket on the wearer's right.

Not much to explain here: red arc for Drill Team, blue for honour roll, and gold for Rifle Team. These are worn centred on the wearer's left pocket.

Qualification badge. This is sharpshooter, between marksman and expert. I'm not really sure of my shooting scores, so I won't say anything about them.

The aforementioned awards are specific to the JROTC first region, which is most of the United States east coast. More information is at http://www.usarotc.com/jrotc/jrawards.htm.
