Lennon
World is delighted to introduce to Lennon fans all
over the world, Shelley Germeaux. Shelley has been
a regular writer for Daytrippin’
Beatles Magazine since the fall of 2000. She has
been a devoted fan of the Beatles since they conquered
America in 1964 when she was eight. While she never
saw the Beatles live, she has attended shows from
each of Paul McCartney’s North American tours
since 1976, as well as Ringo Starr’s. But her
deepest affection is for John Lennon, which is evidenced
by her vast (and well-used!) library of material on
his life from childhood through his last days at the
Dakota. She has visited Liverpool, London, and New
York on Lennon pilgrimages as well, meeting many other
fans and forming friendships. Her association with
Daytrippin’ began when she submitted an article
about the big birthday party she threw for John Lennon
when he would have turned 60. The party, which included
a trivia contest, drew media attention from the local
paper. Then she won a Daytrippin’ contest for
the “best Beatles license plate”, which
is “NO.9 NO.9”--on a silver Volkswagen
Beetle. She’s been writing for the magazine
ever since. Her articles reflect her knowledge and
respect for Lennon’s artistry, songwriting genius,
and the imprint he continues to make on the world.
But the humor, the creativity, and the playfulness
John would appreciate, is also there. Shelley lives
in the Seattle area of Washington State with her husband
of 25 years and two daughters, aged 11 and 16. She
graduated with a business degree from the University
of Washington in 1978 and worked as a Certified Public
Accountant for ten years. While staying home to raise
children, she discovered her love of writing and hopes
to pursue a career in that field. “I am happy
that my writings about John will have another chance
to be shared on-line with a beautiful site like “Lennonworld.com”.
John gave us so much of his soul through his music
and his honesty. The least I can do is help to preserve
his memory, for first-generation fans as well as the
younger ones who are now discovering Lennon’s
music.” –Shelley Germeaux. Email Shelley

Songs of John Lennon : The Beatle Years
“The Songs of John Lennon, The Beatles Years”
by John Stevens, intimately examines twenty-five of
John Lennon’s Beatle songs between 1964-1969.
In this book, the secrets of John’s songwriting
craft are revealed as though Toto were pulling open
the curtain on John’s mind. But it’s more
than simply a handbook on John’s technique;
it shines enormous light on John’s ability to
create masterpieces that broke former songwriting
formats, and revolutionized popular music-- without
the benefit of any formal training. Full

skiffle music with John Lennon and the Quarrymen away
forever—so they thought.
