Ammonite segments
The ammonite pieces above were found along Charmouth beach in
the muddy landslides at the bottom of the cliff face. They needed the minimum
of preparation as the hard mud surrounding them disolved in water with the gentle
rubbing of a tooth brush.
There are several species here, the centre
one is pyritised and the large piece on the top has it's inner chamber visible.
Above are several pieces of nautiloid fossil.
