Southerndown, near to Barry in Glamorgan, South Wales, has a picturesque beach, extensive rockpools and cliffs of Lower Jurassic rocks dating back about 190 million years. It has rich fossil deposits of gryphea and fossilised wood, as well as corals, crinoids and ammonites.
