The fossils on this page are collected from two locations within about half a mile of each other, either side of Hillend farm on the A489 between Plowden and Cheney Longville in South Shropshire. The fossils from upper Hillend ( west of the farm towards Plowden ) are found on a roadside verge made up of Silurian Pentamerus beds and Longmyndian sandstone dating back about 430 million years. The site I have named lower Hillend ( east of the farm towards Cheney Longville ) is a large scree slope just off the road of a rock type I am unable to identify.
