The quarry at Llanymynech on the Shropshire - Wales border dates from the Carboniferous period, some 345-280 million years ago. It contains limestone that has been quarried out over a vast area and now is a Nature Reserve. Whilst it is meant to be a decent location for collecting, we unfortunately did not come away with many specimens on our first trip - hoping for better luck next time.
