The above Hemicidaris intermedia was found embedded almost totally
in rock by Jane at Woodeaton Quarry.
Only one or two tubercules were visible
and when extracted from the rock it was discovered that it had broken in half.
Undeterred, she spent many hours cleaning off the matrix, revealing this lovely specimen.
