The area around Wenlock Edge 440 - 395 million years ago during the Silurian period, was a warm shallow sea teeming with life. Corals, brachiopods, trilobites, crinoids and bryozoa lived in great numbers and the fossils of these creatures formed a coral reef of Wenlock Limestone that is world reknown.
This is a partial side view of Wenlock Edge taken from Harley.
